About Me

Stories from a life of travel.

Welcome to Libotero, a travel blog born out of a love for discovering places, experiencing different cultures, and collecting stories along the way.

I’m Sinjin Pineda, a Cebu-based blogger who started sharing my adventures online in 2007. What began as a personal passion for documenting experiences eventually grew into years of exploring destinations, discovering local gems, experiencing different cultures, and sharing travel stories with readers.

For many years, travel blogging gave me opportunities to see places I once only dreamed of visiting, meet people from different walks of life, and experience the world beyond the familiar. Every trip came with something new to learn, something worth remembering, and a story to bring home.

Libotero became a home for those stories.

More than just a travel blog

Travel has always been about more than ticking destinations off a list.

It’s about tasting something for the first time, getting lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood, finding a restaurant you wish you had discovered sooner, experiencing a different way of life, and realizing how much there is to appreciate beyond your own little corner of the world.

Over the years, I’ve shared travel experiences from destinations near and far, with a special appreciation for the places, food, and experiences that make each journey memorable.

As someone based in Cebu, I’ve always believed that there’s plenty to discover both at home and abroad. From local escapes and Philippine destinations to international adventures, my travels have taught me that meaningful experiences don’t always require an elaborate itinerary or a faraway destination.

Sometimes, the best memories come from the simplest moments.

From chasing destinations to cherishing memories

I began blogging in 2007, when travel blogs were still finding their place in the online world. Long before today’s reels, travel influencers, and endless streams of destination content, I was already documenting trips and sharing recommendations through my own little space on the internet.

Over time, travel blogging became a significant part of my life. It opened doors, created friendships, and gave me experiences I’m grateful to have had.

But life changes, and priorities change with it.

These days, I’ve stepped into a more semi-retired chapter of my travel blogging journey. I’m no longer chasing every invitation, filling my calendar with trips, or feeling the need to turn every getaway into content.

I’m learning to travel at my own pace, spend more time with the people who matter, and enjoy experiences without always thinking about the next blog post.

That doesn’t mean my love for travel has disappeared. If anything, it means I get to appreciate it differently.

I may not be documenting every destination the way I used to, but the memories remain. And the stories I’ve collected over the years are still worth telling.

Why Libotero?

The name Libotero comes from the Cebuano/Filipino word libot, meaning to go around, roam, or explore. It reflects the spirit behind this blog: a curiosity about the world and a willingness to discover what lies beyond the familiar.

For me, being a libotero was never just about traveling frequently. It was about being open to new experiences, appreciating different places, and finding something meaningful in every journey.

And while my pace of travel may be different now, that spirit of exploration remains.

An archive of adventures, a home for stories

Libotero is now as much a collection of memories as it is a travel resource.

Here, you’ll find travel stories, destination guides, food discoveries, recommendations, and experiences gathered through years of exploring. Some stories may inspire your next trip, while others may simply take you somewhere you’ve always wanted to go.

Travel information can change, so I encourage you to double-check current prices, schedules, requirements, and opening hours before planning your own adventures. But the memories, personal experiences, and stories behind these posts remain part of my journey.

Whether you’re discovering Libotero for the first time or you’ve been following my travels since the early days, I’m glad you’ve found your way here.

Thank you for being part of the journey, wherever you joined along the way.

The travels may be fewer, but the stories are still here.

And who knows? There may always be another place waiting to be discovered.

Happy travels, and see you somewhere along the way!
