Libotero gets a taste of Switzerland at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu!
The Libotero is very fortunate to have been invited to experience once more Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Swiss Alpine Festival!
Marco Polo Plaza Cebu regularly dishes out themed celebrations for its guests, local and foreign alike. From July 27 to August 5, Marco Polo Plaza takes us to another culinary journey, this time to beautiful, rich and efficient Switzerland.
Now on its sixth year, Marco Polo Plaza brings back the real Swiss flavor to Cebu City. Make time at Cafe Marco as their world-class chefs, headed by their new executive chef, Karl Beter, recreate a wonderful variety of Swiss culinary goodness from A to Z.
Grüezi! That’s one fine Swiss hello to a great feast.

The Swiss Food Festival couldn’t get any better with Stephan Wieprich, Director for Food and Beverage, Karl Beter, Executive Chef and Mr. Hans Hauri, General Manager. The three of them complete the German-Austrian-Swiss triangle to bring out the best authentic Swiss food Marco Polo Plaza can offer.
Hans Hauri, General Manager of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, who is a Swiss National himself shares that while the food festival is already on its sixth year, not much has changed since Swiss food is traditional and the dishes are usually made from simple ingredients such as potato and cheese. Southern parts of Switzerland which lie next to Italy have been influenced by Italian cuisine so it is not surprising to find traditional food ranging from pasta to home made meat specialities.
Having said that, Swiss traditions cross oceans to the Café Marco, where diners can enjoy a gourmet selection as comprehensive as the alphabet. Those who come for lunch and dinner get to enjoy Swiss delicacies from Alpine air-dried beef to chocolates, cheese fondue to raclettes, roesti, sausages, and Zurich-style veal.
During yesterday’s launch, the Lobby Lounge was set up and dressed especially for the occasion. Drool as you browse through some of the Swiss favorites we enjoyed:
