Part 13 of a series
DAY 2
After a very swift tour of Vigan City, we immediately left the heritage city to resume our roadtrip further north.
Here’s a final look of Plaza Burgos with the Vigan Cathedral in the background.

Leaving Vigan…

The white structure in the background is CAP Building and it’s still consistent with the city’s Spanish Colonial Architecture theme.

5:26pm. JTC Mall. This is, if I’m not mistaken, the largest mall in Vigan. And it closes at 7pm! Imagine if malls in the metropolis closed at that time… Hmmm…

Sto. Domingo Public Market. By 5:40pm, we passed by Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, three towns away from Vigan City.

6:13pm. Sinait, Ilocos Sur. We were literally challenging the sunset to a race since all rural roads in the north are not lighted at night and we wouldn’t want to be stuck in the middle of darkness trying to look for the right direction. Luckily, the sun sets late in the north, as late as 7pm at that!

Welcome to Ilocos Norte! At 6:17pm, we were finally able to cross the border between Sinait, Ilocos Sur and Badoc, Ilocos Norte. But then, Laoag City’s still 5 towns away! Oh no!

About an hour later, at 7:24pm, we finally were able to stretch out after almost 12 hours on the road in our hotel room in La Elliana Hotel, Laoag City. La Elliana Hotel is located in Rizal St., cor. Ablan Ave., at the heart of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. The hotel is in a modern multi-storey building that’s in better condition than the other options around the city. Time to rest after a long and tiring but very enjoyable day!
