Family Country Hotel and Convention Centre, General Santos City

Part 2 of a series.

From the General Santos City Airport, we went straight to Family Country Hotel and Convention Centre, our official home for the SOCCSKSARGEN Experience Tour 4.0. For the first time in S-Ex Tour history, S-Ex tourists did not have to worry about accommodation expenses! Many, many thanks to Family Country Hotel and their very generous manager, Ms. Gladys Golingan!

As we entered the lobby, we knew that we were going to have a relaxing stay at Family Country Hotel for the next five days.

Family Country Hotel is one of the more established hotels in General Santos City. Located in Mateo Road, Lagao, General Santos City, the hotel boasts of a central location in the very heart of downtown Gensan, yet is hidden from the main highway so we are assured of a quiet and peaceful stay. Depending on your pace, the malls are a ten-minute walk away! SM City, Gaisano Mall, KCC Mall and Robinsons, they’re all on one thoroughfare, J. Catolico Sr. Avenue.

Our very homey room located at the second floor affords a view of the mini-lagoon below.

Family Country Hotel has 76 guest rooms that are all air-conditioned. WiFi is available at the lobby and in all guest rooms (although the service provider was still fine-tuning the wireless connection in the second level during our stay). The hotel has its own restaurant, the Café Leticia, where we have our daily breakfasts.

Probably the biggest come-on of Family Country Hotel is its Convention Centre. Event organizers will be spared of the expenses in ferrying guests from the hotel to the nearest convention centre since it is just right across the hotel lobby! Family Country Hotel’s Convention Centre can host group functions as it accommodate up to 1,000 people! Among the big events that have chosen Family Country Hotel and Convention Centre as its favorite venue is the National Tuna Congress. This year will be the 12th time the important event is held at the hotel.

Finally, the hotel also has a 25-meter swimming pool, the biggest of any hotel in General Santos City!
